Mortgage Interest Rates October 14 – 30 Year to New Lows?
Mortgage interest rates for October 14th, 2009 are hitting multi month lows early. Currently the 30 year fixed mortgage rates is at 4.78% while the 15 year fixed rate is at 4.38%. The 5/1 ARM is also heading south to 3.76%. This is all in very light volume early on so it could change with the bat of an eye. With that being said it is very surprising to see mortgage interest rates drop to multi month lows with the 10 year yield still above its 200 day moving average.
This could could be a sign that the 10 year yield is going to break down or it could be a light volume trade lower before reality hits. We will make sure to keep an eye on this today and see what happens with rates and treasury yields. This week could go a long way towards figuring out the long term trend of mortgage interest rates.
